The National University of Singapore (NUS) and Singapore Technologies Engineering (ST Engineering) are working together on a $9 million multi-year advanced digital technologies research programme with the aim of furthering their goals of building a people-centric and smart future for Singapore and beyond.

The programme will focus on technologies related to smart city, as well as smart maintenance, repairs and overhaul (MRO) spanning five areas including resource optimisation and scheduling, prescriptive analytics, and reason engine and machine learning.

The research areas both support ST Engineering’s focus on developing smart city solutions that meet the present and future needs of cities around the world, and NUS’s endeavours as a driving force behind smart city innovations.

The programme will be helmed by associate professor Aaron Chia from the NUS Faculty of Engineering's Department of Industrial Systems Engineering and Management and ST Engineering’s head of the data analytics strategic technology centre, Jinson Xu.

As at 11.22am, shares in ST Engineering were trading 1 cent lower, or 0.3% down, at $3.40.
