Wise, the platform that allows users to make cross-border payments around the world, has now been integrated on Google Pay.
From May 11, Wise users in Singapore and India, who are also on Google Pay, will now be able to receive transfers made from their friends and family in the US.
This means recipients in Singapore or India will only have to provide their mobile number to the sender, minimising the hassle of providing bank account details and codes.
The transfer through Wise uses the "real exchange rate" with no hidden fees or markups. According to Wise, it is said to be eight times cheaper compared to most banks to send money
internationally, saving its customers over $1 billion a year.
"Providing people with a simple and seamless way to safely send money to friends and family is more important than ever - be it for everyday use or in times of need," says Harsh Sinha, chief technology officer at Wise.
“Wise’s mission is money without borders - instant, convenient, transparent, and eventually, free. Through this collaboration, and with the integration of the Wise Platform, Google Pay customers can now send money internationally cheaper, faster, and easier.”
