Global Invacom Group has, through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Global Invacom Limited, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Satwave Arrays Inc. to produce a multi-orbit flat panel antenna (FPA) for Ka/Ku-band commercially.

Through the MOU, Global Invacom intends to bring to the market a motorised FPA that will feature pan and tilt capabilities which will enable the FPA to switch between LEO, MEO and GEO orbits without losing its signal. LEO refers to low Earth orbit; MEO refers to medium Earth orbit; while GEO refers to geostationary Earth orbit. LEO typically orbits below an altitude of 2,000km, while MEO refers to the space between 2,000 km and 35,786 km above sea level. GEO orbit refers to altitudes of 36,786 km and above.

The MOU will establish a partnership between Global Invacom and Satwave Arrays, where both parties will integrate their technology to produce the next-generation terminal. According to Global Invacom, the resulting antenna will be “compact, lightweight, and designed to withstand being in constant motion”. “It will also be ruggedized to meet the demands of defence and commercial applications where reliability and performance must be maintained even in the most challenging conditions.”
