SINGAPORE (Oct 2): Sustainable energy provider Sunseap Group, through its unit Sunseap Leasing, has secured a tender to install more than 170,000 solar panels on rooftops of Housing & Development Board (HDB) blocks.

When completed, the solar photovoltaic (PV) systems will generate up to 70 megawatt peak (MWp) of solar energy, which can potentially offset about 42,152 tonnes of carbon emissions - an amount typically generated from powering about 17,500 4-room HDB flats annually.

This project is under the fourth tender of the SolarNova programme – a joint effort by the HDB and Economic Development Board (EDB) which aggregates solar demand across government agencies to leverage economies of scale, allowing agencies with smaller energy demands to enjoy clean energy at a lower cost. A total of six government agencies will be participating in this tender.
