SINGAPORE (Mar 29): Sim Leisure Group, the Malaysian theme park operator that debuted on the Catalist board of the Singapore Exchange on Mar 1, today announced that its FY18 earnings have surged more than fourfold to RM6.05 million ($2.0 million), compared to RM1.29 million in FY17.

This came on the back of its revenue more than doubling to RM21.2 million from RM9.68 million a year ago.

The increase in revenue was mainly attributable to revenue contribution from a full year of operation of ESCAPE Waterplay in FY18, as compared to approximately one-month of operation in FY17 when ESCAPE Waterplay commenced operations in November 2017; higher number of visitors in FY18 as the number of visitors to the theme parks increased approximately 65% y-o-y to 185,000 in FY18; and higher ticket price following the opening of the ESCAPE Waterpark.
